Having given myself August off, I’m now refreshed and ready for my new project:  Lost and Stolen Artworks. The stories of stolen famous paintings continue to fascinate us as much as the artworks themselves.

Everyone loves a good mystery, and the art world delivers plenty. Throughout the ages, famous thefts have left officials wondering how these heists were pulled off. Complicated to execute, and often dramatic, art crimes are notorious for the glamour they command, becoming the subject of many a crime thriller and Hollywood blockbuster.

While most stolen masterpieces are recovered, there are some that remain missing to this very day. Many are stolen for ransom, but the disappearance of others remains a true mystery. What dusty vaults or hidden walls do they grace? We must remember it’s not just artwork that is lost, it is history, with the disappearance of paintings by renowned Masters such as Picasso, Rembrandt, Vermeer, Munch, Modigliani, and Caravaggio to name just a few. I therefore have plenty to choose from in this new series, indeed I think I can safely say I have my work cut out!

With no time to waste, I’m looking forward to picking up my paintbrush and getting started.
