MARCH NEWSLETTER

This Month I was flattered to be asked to sit for Worthing Portrait Artist of The Year at St Paul’s, Worthing. I’m looking forward to it but it will certainly be a different experience being on the other side of the easel! I’m intrigued to see the artists’ different styles and the finished paintings, however. Painting a portrait and capturing the essence and character of the sitter is notoriously difficult and I wish the artists all the best in their endeavours.

I was also delighted to be asked by BBC 1 South East to talk about Vincent van Gogh and his short time spent in Spencer Square, Ramsgate (aired BBC1, 12th February, South East Today). I’m also excited about the Vincent in London Exhibition being held at The Tate Britain. A major exhibition, it brings together forty-five works by van Gogh to reveal how he was inspired by Britain and, in turn, how he inspired British artists (27 March – 11 August).

In other news, I will be working with the BBC again soon on a ninety minute documentary and thanks to Ben Haynes I am now the resident artist at Brighton’s wonderful Hotel du Vin, where a selection of my Soutine portraits of Waiters, Bellboys and Chefs (very fitting!) will be on display in the foyer and restaurant.

I would just like to say a huge thank you to all the galleries that represent me, and also a special thank you to Andrew at Pulse Fine Art for assisting me in getting my work in galleries up and down the country.

Last but by no means least, my book showcasing the best of my art is going full steam ahead, with niece and photographer, Izzie Struthers, capturing my work perfectly.
