Selling for 49,827,000 GBP proving just how much he appeals to both new and established collectors from all over the world. Regarded as a self-contained genius, Picasso remained magnificently indifferent to artistic trends as he veered between subjects, styles and approaches. Perhaps this is where his true appeal lies: the vindication of absolute individual liberty in the face of conventions, rules, philosophies and views.
