Celebrating Picasso

Celebrating Pablo Diego José Francisco de Paula Juan Nepomuceno María de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santísima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso.

What a name! What an artist! Picasso's portrait of Marie-Thérèse Walter, his 'golden muse' is now the second most expensive work ever sold at auction in Europe. Selling for 49,827,000 GBP proving just how much he appeals to both new and established collectors from all over the world. Regarded as a self-contained genius, Picasso remained magnificently indifferent to artistic trends as he veered between subjects, styles and approaches. Perhaps this is where his true appeal lies: the vindication of absolute individual liberty in the face of conventions, rules, philosophies and views.

Find out more about the life and works of Pablo Picasso at the Tate Modern London – PICASSO 1932 – LOVE, FAME, TRAGEDY – 3rd March - 9th September 2018, showcasing more than one hundred paintings, sculptures and drawings as well as family photographs.

Good artists copy, great artists steal.

David Henty does both!
